6/28/2026 THE 13TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

Hello and a happy Sunday to you all.

As I read through the readings for this weekend, I could not help but to reflect on the second reading.

St. Paul in this second reading, from his letter to the Romans, today tells us, “Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.”

The British historian and theologian, Greald R. Cragg, tells us, “Adam was the head of the old humanity in and over which sin has won its victory and established its control; Christ is the head of the new humanity . . . from which sin has been excluded in shameful defeat. The essential meaning of the Christian life . . . is that by way of justification by faith one has been made a member of this new humanity. ”  Cregg goes on using the words of St. Paul, “As in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive (1Cor15:22)

Remember on the eve of Easter many of us renewed our baptismal vows. Those promises may have be made for us by our Godparents, but we are the ones who are asked over and over again to put those vows into practice.

Should you want to read them over, you can look them up on the internet. It is always a good practice to remind ourselves the obligation we have been given to establish the Kingdom of God here on the earth. In doing so, others may very well say what others said of the early community, as recorded by the early Christian writer and theologian Tertullian (160-220) “Behold these Christians how they love one another.”

Peace and All Good,

Fr. Vinnie, fcm and the

Bros and Srs of the

Franciscan House of Prayer.
