5/6/2026 WEDNESDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK OF EASTER.

Greetings.

I know that we all have had those days when we feel that even God seems to have gone on vacation and feel very much alone.

There just seems to be a darkness in our heart which, no matter what we do just won’t go away. This darkness seems to get even darker when we see and hear the happiness of others around us.

We say that we are just “having a day.” We sometimes cannot explain why, sometimes it is the whelming up of some long-forgotten feelings of a lost love, a deceased friend or family member. We just wish it would go away.

The American author, Madeleine L’Engle, tells us today. “Easter is always the answer to “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”

Easter. Is it just a calendar date? Is it some theology that we learned in our past? Or is Easter the light that will break this darkness of our hearts?

Remember that even Jesus experienced this darkness, which is very much a part of being human. And in this darkness, Jesus’ call to the Father “WHY”?

There are no recorded words or a record of what happened between when Jesus breathed His last, and when the stone was rolled aside at the door of the tomb. But story picks up with Jesus encountering the women who returned to complete the burial ritual.

I would believe that it was at this point that the question “WHY ?” is answered . . .”BECAUSE . . .!”

Peace and All Good,

Bros and Srs of the

Franciscan House of Prayer.
