5/5/2026 TUESDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK OF EASTER

Greetings. Hope all is well.

I know that we all have had days when we become so overwhelmed with life that we don’t know which way to go. The harder we try to get things done the more complicated it becomes. At this point, we feel like running away to some place of peace and quiet.

I remember when I was teaching as Delbarton school and had a rough day with some of the kids, after school I would go out to the apple orchard and pick apples. I know this sound funny, but I will tell you that each of those apples had a face of one of my students that gave me a hard time that day. I would even speak to them and tell the what I could not tell them in class.

Not too long ago I came across the following that I wish I had way back then. “There is never a reason to lose hope. Jesus says, ‘I am with you until the end of the world.’ ”

Oh, and what would I do with all the apples I picked? Well, I put them in the grinder and then the press and made apple cider, which I served to the other monks at dinner. As they say, when life  gives you lemons. . .well in this case, it’s apples. Have a good day!

Peace and All Good,

Franciscan House of Prayer.
