11/8/2026 the 32nd  SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

Greeting, happy Sunday to you all.

Today, once again, Jesus give us one of his parable. This time we have ten virgins awaiting the coming of the bridegroom to accompany him into the banquet hall. As the story tells, the groom is taking his time. Believe me, having done enough weddings in my day, the bride and groom are not on their own but at the order of the master of ceremonies.

Sometime we can be caught up in the story, we sometimes forget what the meaning which the story is trying to tell us. It is understandable that Jesus’ story had nothing to do with these ten girls waiting on a guy who is just taking his time to show up at his wedding party.

Carla Works, from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC, gives us her understanding of tis parable. “To live in vigilance means for the disciples to do the tasks that they have been appointed to do in preparation for the Master’s coming. In Matthew’s Gospel, those tasks include bearing witness to God’s kingdom by welcoming the stranger, feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and imprisoned (25:31-46), and making disciples in all the world.” (Matt 28:19-20).

Remember what Jesus said, “You do not know the day nor the hour.” No on knows but God the Father, and as my mother use to say, “And He’s not telling.”

Vigilance has always been a hallmark of the Christian life, people living according to their Lord’s commands, being servants to one another, and doing what they are able to help those who are less fortunate than they.

We do not know the day nor the hour, therefore we have to live as if the Lord is just around the corner. As that little saying goes, “You gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, love like you’ll never be hurt, sing like no one is listening and live like it’s heaven on earth.” In other words, live life as the Lord has ask us to its fullest. The King is on His way. When, we don’t know, but we are to live and love one another as He has loved us because He just may be about to  knock at our door.

Peace and All Good,
