Greetings, hope you will have a restful weekend. Or some might ask as Maggie Smith did when she played the role of the Dowager Countess of Downton Abbey, “What is a weekend?”
I would say that everyone, at one time or. another wonders what “heaven” is like. We might envision clouds of white, angels singing on with their harps in hand. We might envision meeting those saints to whom we have prayed to all our lives. And then there is the reunion of the of ones that had gone before us, our loved ones.
The American Episcopal priest and author, Robert Farras Capon one wrote, “The new heaven and the new earth are not replacements for the old ones; they are transfigurations of them. The redeemed order is not the created order forsaken; it is the created order – all of it – raised and glorified.”
Maybe it is true, as some say, is “heaven on earth.” What God created brought to its full glory. A world that is truly at peace. A place where pain and suffering are things of the past. A place where we never grow old, a place where we are never separated from the ones we love. A place that does not pass away. Maybe this concept is just a little better than sitting on a cloud listening to angels playing on harps. But as St. Paul tells us “ No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians, 2:9)
