Greetings. I hope all goes well with you.

Today we remember St. Norbert. He may be little known to many, but St. Norbert College is located in Green Bay Wisconsin.

I know of them because when I was with the Alexian Brothers in Wisconsin, they were our chaplains. We also had some staying in our house in Chicago who were attending the local universities.

There is not much about Norbert as he lived a monastic live. He was the bishop of Magdeburg Germany. He was known for his holiness of life and brought many to a deeper faith in in Lord.

Norbert leaves us with this simple thought. ” You will never enjoy the sweetness of a quiet prayer unless you shot your mind to all worldly desires and temporal affairs.

I for one can tell you this is so true. It is during my prayer time that more things from my past come into my mind, persons, places and things that I had not thought of in years. I sometime wonder if God is not asking me to pray for them.

Prayer, like anything else takes time to develop. As the New Yorker told the visitor when asked how to get to Carnagie Hall, he just said, “Practice, practice, practice!”
