6/5/2026 FIRST FRIDAY AFTER PENTECOST. FEAST OF ST. BONIFACE, BISHOP

Hello.

As I have said before, the first Friday of the month is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We also remember St. Boniface, born in 675 and died in754. He was bishop of the early Church.

Keeping with the tradition of the Church we well offer a thought about the Sacred Heart from Pope Francis.

Francis tells us today about the Sacred Heat, “The Heart of Jesus is the ultimate symbol of God’s mercy, but it is not an imaginary symbol, it is a real symbol, which represents the center, the source from which salvation for all humanity gushed forth.”

We all know that the heart is a symbol we use to express love. We are inundated with hearts on St. Valentine’s Day. When we which to express our love for another we use the heart, and so on.

But, as Pope Francis says, this is a real symbol which God expresses His love for each one of us. That love is not a love that is for all creation, it is a sign of His live for each one of us as if we were the only ones on the earth.

“Oh, most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.”

Peace and All Good,

Fr. Vinnie, fcm and the

Bros and Srs of the

Franciscan House of Prayer.
