Good day to you all.
One of the hallmarks of being human, it would seem, is to seek out the DIFFERENCES rather than the LIKENESS we see in each other. I wonder if it could come from some deep down pride that says that there is no one like me.
Well, in God’s eyes that is very true. God made each of us unique in every way. Even twins, I should know being one.
But in stead of being in awe of the differences we have from each other, we must also come to stand in awe of how alike we are. We are all “hard wired “ in the very same way.
It is like what Shakespeare’s character Shylock in his play “THE MERCHANT OF VENISE” says, “If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh, if you poison us do we not die?”
It might do us well to look for the commonality in all of us rather than what is different. It is like a work of art. Though the artist may use different colors or images, it still comes from the hand of the same artist.
If that be the case, then though God has used different colors, and images, the fact still remains that the end result is by the same artist, by the same God and Father who may you and me.
As Maya Angelou wrote in her pome HUMAN FAMILY
“I note the obvious differences between each sort and type, but we are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.
We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike
We are more alike, my friendsthen we are unalike.”
