Hello, hope all is well.
I don’t know about you, most of my mail these days are requests for donations to this or that organization, I never knew that there were so many organizations that are in need. As much as one would like to give money to all these organizations, we may not have the means to do so.
If we were to do an in-depth study of the Bible, we would see that the act of almsgiving is a major theme that is woven throughout its many books. Giving to those who have not has always been a hallmark of the Jewish and Christian life.
St. Gregory Nazianzen tells us, ” Give something, however small, to the one in need, for it is not small to one who has nothing. Neither is it small to God if we have given what we could.”
Now, I know that we are not able to give to every organization who ask. But if we are able to choose one cause we may feel akin to, at least we can feel we are helping in our own little way. Remember what St. Gregory tells us, “it is not small to the one who has nothing.”
Peace and All Good,
